When we think of ways to cook salmon, the first thought that comes to mind is usually a sizzling, aromatic dish on the grill or in the oven. However, there are other ways to cook salmon that don’t involve any special clean up at all. Salads, for example, can be a great way to incorporate salmon into your diet without having to make a big change in your cooking habits. Salads have long been a favorite at fancy restaurants. There are even some versions of the classic Caesar salad that have salmon as an ingredient. Here are some other ways to cook salmon that will surprise you, but not taste bad.

Frittatas With the summer season quickly approaching, now is a great time to try out one of the many different ways to cook salmon on the stove. There are many different ways to grill a fish in a pan, such as grilling with onions, garlic, spices, or even sauteing. If you’re thinking of going a little heavier on the salt, try a teaspoon of ground pepper for the five minutes before you serve it. This adds a little bit of spice to the flavor, but doesn’t require much preparation time.

Frittatas With A Little Salt As the summer heat starts to rise, you may find that you need to bake a frittata instead of grill. A frittata is a type of open-faced Italian bread, and can be made with leftover pasta or potato or even leftover vegetables. To make a frittata, start by preparing the ingredients, such as zucchini, mushrooms, tomato sauce, olive oil, and herbs. Spread the vegetable or meat mixture on a non-stick baking pan, place in the oven, and heat in the oven until the bottom begins to turn golden brown.

For an added kick, try drizzling the marinara over the fish after it’s been cooked, but be sure to allow the vinegar to fully dry out the ingredients. This is also a great method for utilizing leftover ingredients, such as vegetable peelings or pieces of fruit.

Fishy Fries Another great way to eat salmon right off the grill is with a fried fish skillet.

This is almost identical to the classic Italian cornetti, except you use a cast iron skillet, which will absorb the oils from the fish and allow it to retain a gorgeous crisp texture. Cook your fish in the skillet with a little olive oil, then drizzle it with some lemon juice, pepper, and a little salt before serving. If you want to go even further with the flavor, try adding dill or rosemary to the batter, or season with a little garlic salt.

Charcoal Grilled Salmon Another excellent way to cook salmon fillets in the oven is with a charcoal grill. This method not only allows you to cook the salmon fillets directly on the hot coals, but it also creates a natural smoke ring that imparts a lovely smoke flavor to the meat. This method, unlike the frying methods, is best done with salmon fillets that are fairly dry.

Seared On The Grill Another great way to cook salmon in the oven is by searing it on the grills hot grates. The great thing about this cooking method is that you have direct control over when the fish is cooked. Simply place the fish onto the hot grates, and pay careful attention to its underside to determine when it’s done. You can set the timer to let the fish cook for up to ten minutes, or simply watch it.
